nbn connection boxes are a permanent fixture of a home

It is a requirement that nbn™connection boxes remain at the property when the home changes hands. This is the same as keys, stoves or garage remotes.

This equipment must be included as a permanent fixture of the property for change of ownership and rentals.

Sales agents

The nbn™ connection box belongs with the ‘sold’ sticker and sales agents should:

  • Include the nbn™ connection box in the contract of sale material
  • Ensure the nbn™ connection box is in place at post-settlement inspections and in final
    communications with vendors

Property managers

The nbn™ connection box belongs with the new tenant and new lease and property managers should: 

  • Include the nbn™ connection box in the initial condition report and inventory
  • Ensure the nbn™ connection box is included in entry, exit and routine inspections

What to look for

The nbn™ connection box should have an nbn™ logo present on the front of the box and will usually be signed ‘Property of nbn’. Examples below:
